Holly Willoughby is used to seeing contestants getting emotional on Surprise Surprise, but the tables were turned when she became the subject of a special surprise on the upcoming Father's Day episode of the ITV show.

The mum-of-three burst into tears live on camera when producers surprised her with a visit from her dad Terry, who walked onto set while she was presenting the final segment of the show.

In the lead up to her surprise Holly tells the audience: "There is still one more Father's Day surprise. Now there is somebody here who would love to see their dad tonight and to find out who that somebody is take a look at this picture."

Holly is then stunned to see a photo of herself as a child being cradled by her father.

"Why are you doing this to me? That's me, that's my dad," Holly said.

The 34-year-old then burst into tears when her proud father entered the studio to give her a big hug.

"This is supposed to be surprises for other people, not for me!" Holly exclaimed, adding: "What are you doing here? That's mad. I just messaged you on the camera and everything and you're here."

Terry replied: "It's such good fun though, isn't it?"

Holly has returned for the fourth series of the ITV show less than nine months after she welcomed her third child with husband Dan Baldwin. Baby Chester William Baldwin joins three-year-old sister Belle and five-year-old Harry, and Holly has since said she is incredibly happy with her brood.

"Since Chester has come along the family feels in a good place," she told Daily Express. "Three just feels like a good number – we're very happy with what we have."

Surprise Surprise starts Sunday 21 June at 8pm on ITV.
