Stephanie Davis dropped from Hollyoaks 'with immediate effect'

Hollyoaks favourite Stephanie Davis has been dropped from the Channel 4 soap "with immediate effect". The 22-year-old, who has appeared on the show since she was 16, will not be filming any more scenes in her role as Sinead O'Connor after bosses decided to terminate her contract.A Hollyoaks spokesperson confirmed the news: "Stephanie Davis will no longer be filming Hollyoaks. Her contract has been terminated with immediate effect."

No further explanation has been given for the actress' sudden departure, nor has it been revealed how the character of Sinead will be written out.The news will certainly come as a surprise to fans; as recently as April, Stephanie signed a new year-long deal with the soap. Shortly afterwards, she spoke of her excitement. "I'm really happy," she told the Daily Star. "I've been in the show since I was 16 and I am 22 now. I've kind of grown up here, which has been mental. "The character of Sinead was introduced in 2010, along with on-screen stepmum Diane, father Rob and brother Finn. Sinead and Diane were the only family members to remain in the village – although Ross Adams was recently brought in as Sinead's cousin Scott Drinkwell.

Stephanie has been playing the character of Sinead O'Connor since 2010

Sinead has been involved in a number of Hollyoaks' biggest storylines in recent years, including a hard-hitting bullying plot, a prostitution storyline and she had a key role in the 2013 explosion at the council flats.More recently, viewers have seen her embark on a relationship with her best friend Ste Hay following the arrival of their baby daughter Hannah.Last year, Stephanie was nominated for the Best Actress award and the Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards.
