Stephanie Davis was axed from Hollyoaks this week
News that the favourite Stephanie Davis had been dropped from the soap "with immediate effect" broke on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, who has appeared on the show since she was 16, will no longer be filming any scenes in her role as Sinead O'Connor after bosses decided to terminate her contract.
The news came as a surprise to fans; as recently as April, Stephanie signed a new year-long deal with the soap. Shortly afterwards, she spoke of her excitement. "I'm really happy," she told the Daily Star. "I've been in the show since I was 16 and I am 22 now. I've kind of grown up here, which has been mental."
The 22-year-old has been part of the soap since 2010
More recently, viewers have seen her embark on a relationship with her best friend Ste Hay following the arrival of their baby daughter Hannah.
Last year, Stephanie was nominated for the Best Actress award and the Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards.
Sinead has been involved in a number of Hollyoaks' biggest storylines in recent years, including a hard-hitting bullying plot, a prostitution storyline and she had a key role in the 2013 explosion at the council flats.
The character of Sinead was introduced in 2010, along with on-screen stepmum Diane, father Rob and brother Finn. Sinead and Diane were the only family members to remain in the village – although Ross Adams was recently brought in as Sinead's cousin Scott Drinkwell.
