Robert Downey Jr has been named the world's highest paid actor for the third year in a row by Forbes magazine. The 50-year-old star took home $80million (£51million) last year, beating fellow Hollywood heavyweights including Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper.Although Robert only appeared in two films between June 2014 to June 2015 – The Judge and Avengers: Age of Ultron – his star power helped ensure that both were big box office hits, with Avengers: Age of Ultron taking $1.4billion worldwide. Robert is also reportedly commanding a huge $40million for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.

Taking the second spot on the Forbes list is Jackie Chan, with $50million, followed by Vin Diesel ($47million), Bradley Cooper ($41.5million), who produced and starred in American Sniper, and Adam Sandler ($41million), who this year signed on to make four films exclusively for Netflix.Notably, four of the top ten wealthiest male film stars now hail from outside Hollywood.
