August 10, 2015

Amal Clooney is the number one choice to take over from Donald Trump as the host of the hit US show The Celebrity Apprentice. The 37-year-old human right’s lawyer tops a list of 'powerhouse' female candidates that includes actress Jessica Alba, who also runs a successful household goods company, and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg, according to the Express.NBC bosses fired Donald last month after he made incendiary comments about Mexican immigrants during a political campaign speech, and they now want to hire a high-profile woman to take on the job.

Amal Clooney is reportedly the top choice to host The Celebrity Apprentice

"Basically we want Amal, although there are a couple of other prominent women in contention," one source told the newspaper, adding: "As well as the cachet of being married to George, she is also a highly-respected figure in her field and, since she rarely says anything in public, there is still something of an air of mystery to her. "We think she could be a perfect fit, if her schedule can be made to dovetail with shooting requirements. "Filming for the show takes place in Manhattan, which reportedly appeals to Amal, since she is currently working as a visiting professor at the nearby Columbia University. Furthermore, her friends are said to be encouraging her to take up the job offer – including Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, who has herself fronted a number of US TV shows and is encouraging Amal to "go for it".Since their wedding last September, Amal and George have split their time between New York, London, LA and Italy. After spending much of the summer at their Lake Como villa, the couple are now planning on selling the property for £32.2million – five times what George paid for it in 2001.A source said of the handsome movie star: "He is all for Amal pursuing her professional life any way she decides. They both want children, probably sooner rather than later, but by establishing their bases on either side of the Atlantic and very much streamlining their lives, a TV debut on a show based in New York might very much appeal to Amal."
