Caitlyn Jenner had reason to celebrate on Thursday after her reality television show was renewed for a second series. The 65-year-old, who has been sharing her own personal journey on E! series I Am Cait, said she was "looking forward" to continuing the show.

Jeff Olde, EVP of Programming and Development at E!, confirmed that the new series will air in 2016, explaining: "Caitlyn's story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before.

"We are honoured Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing story with our viewers around the world."

Following the announcement, Caitlyn tweeted: "I'm looking forward to continuing the conversation. #IAmCait".

Caitlyn's reality show followed her journey as she settled into life as a transgender woman. Showing Caitlyn's relationship with both her family including daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as the transgender community, the ground-breaking series received a largely positive reception when it aired over the summer.

Season two of I Am Cait is not the only project the former Olympian has lined up for 2016 after it emerged that Caitlyn will embark on a multiple-city speaking tour beginning in February. Caitlyn will travel to Toronto, Vancouver, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle to give a personal talk called Up Close and Personal, which is likely to address her brave decision to reveal her true self to the world earlier this year.

Caitlyn has experience of public speaking and moved the audience to tears with her powerful speech as she accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards in July.

Making her first high profile appearance, Caitlyn took the opportunity to thank her family for their support, as well as voicing her own support to people who are going through their own personal problems.

As for what she wants to do next? "I'm going to take a breather for a minute. I want to continue to grow as a person," Caitlyn wrote in her personal blog recently. "In so many ways I feel like I'm a teenage girl discovering herself! I'm still trying to figure out what it means to be a woman and I will continue that process. Because you know what? It's a lot of fun!"
