The X Factor judges have confirmed that Monica Michael will return to the live shows as a wildcard act. The budding singer, who missed out on a place in Rita Ora's top three on Sunday, said she was "hyped" to be returning to the competition after the news was announced on Thursday.
The judges shared the news that Monica would be re-joining the show live on The Xtra Factor, with Rita Ora saying she "couldn't sleep" after letting Monica go from the competition on Sunday.
Monica Michael is The X Factor's wildcard act
"I couldn't sleep Sunday night thinking about Monica and if I could convince the other judges of giving her a wildcard," Rita said. "It's so great that Simon, Cheryl and Grimmy agreed. What a rollercoaster for Monica but sooo glad to have her back. So exciting."
Meanwhile Simon Cowell added: "I just thought I have to bring her back. Rita's got three great girls but the show wouldn't be the same without her. There was always going to be a wildcard. It's not a given, but we always like that opportunity."
Monica was clearly overjoyed to be given a second chance to compete in the live shows judging by the statement she released, saying: "I'm so hyped to be back as the wildcard. Thank you to all the judges for believing in me and the public for supporting me. See you on Saturday night!"
