Strictly favourite Jay McGuiness trips during romantic foxtrot

November 15, 2015

He has impressed the judges week upon week but Jay McGuiness left them unimpressed after he tripped during his dance performance on Saturday evening's Strictly Come Dancing. Devastated by the mishap The Wanted singer was sure that he had blown his chances of a good score. After receiving comments last week that he lacked emotion in his face the 25-year-old singer was determined to remedy this and threw himself whole-heartedly into the foxtrot he performed to Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down.Tough judge Craig Revel-Horwood was unenthusiastic about the dance saying, "I found the whole thing a little bland. As soon as you begin to dance properly the face goes dead. The trip…it wasn’t a good evening for you."

Bruno Tonioli, however, reassured the singer that it wasn’t all bad. "You're always so endearing, the touchy feeling introduction, everything. Don't be discouraged, it was fantastic. "Taking Bruno’s lead, female judge Darcey Bussel tried to lift the Glad You Came singer's spirits, insisting his "technique is outstanding" and that she was taken in as he "told a story" with his dance moves.Despite a mixed bag of reviews from the judges Jay and his professional dance partner Aliona Vilani received a 6 from Craig and three 8s from the other judges, giving them a total of 30.
