This winter, Bill Murray is joined by George Clooney and Miley Cyrus for a fun and festive Christmas film that's sure to warm the cockles of your heart.
Named A Very Murray Christmas, the movie stars the 65-year-old funnyman playing himself as a variety show host worried that no one will turn up to his TV broadcast because of a terrible snowstorm.
Written by Bill for Netflix, the Christmas film pays homage to the classic variety show.
Other celebrities joining the jollity include Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, the band Phoenix and Rashida Jones.
When bad weather hits New York City Bill's starry friends band together to save his special. Through luck and perseverance, guests start to arrive at the Carlyle Hotel, resulting in the whole cast singing and celebrating.
Miley puts on a fantastic show, singing an upbeat rendition of the classic Christmas song Sleigh Ride, while George delivers a Rat Pack-inspired dance with a cocktail shaker in the background.
Bill and director Sofia Coppola worked their Hollywood contacts to lure famous names
Sofia Coppola was brought in as a co-writer and director, having previously worked with Bill on Lost in Translation. The movie came about because of the duo's fondness for the Christmas specials of yesteryear.
"It just started from wanting to see Bill sing and our fondness for those old Christmas specials that were on TV in the 70s and 80s," Sofia explained to People.
With their connections, the pair had no problem recruiting the A-list cast. First on board was George: Bill is a frequent guest at his Lake Como mansion and was a guest at his romantic Venice wedding to Amal.
The silver fox was returning a favour after Bill appeared in his ensemble Monuments Men. Next to sign up was Miley.
"We wanted a pop starlet," said Sofia. "I met Miley through Marc Jacobs and she seemed really game and nice, so I asked through a friend."
