"I'd like to be a finalist. I'd like to be there for the duration," Spencer Matthews has previously said

Spencer had not even reached the main camp before he was forced to leave the show, which is notorious for its gruesome Bushtucker Trials. The single 26-year-old, who recently broke up with his girlfriend Lauren Frazer-Hutton, was due to meet the other contestants in the coming days.

Spencer joined the competition as a latecomer alongside TOWIE star Ferne McCanna and Vicky Pattison. The two girls made it through to the main camp while the Sloane Square regular was banished to Snake Rock.

The day before joining I'm a Celebrity... Spencer seemed confident that he could deal with the pressures of the Australian jungle.

"I would love to win, but that's not why I'm here," he told The Mirror. "I'd like to become a bit more vulnerable. I want to be challenged, physically and mentally. I enjoy putting myself through strenuous experiences – whether it be sporting experiences or giving myself goals.

"I'd like to be a finalist. I'd like to be there for the duration. That's my main aim. The popularity contest as such isn't why I'm here, but I'd like to see it through. I'd like to be one of the last people standing."
