Chris Rock has given viewers a taste of what they can expect from the Oscars in his first promo for the prestigious awards show. The comedian, who will host the awards show for the second time on 28 February, stars in a 15-second commercial which was released on New Year's Eve.
"I'm Chris Rock and I'm hosting the Oscars," he said. "Much like New Year's Eve it will be a night that ends with a lot of drunk disappointed people swearing they'll do better next year."
Chris Rock will host the Oscars in February
Chris was confirmed as the Oscars host in October, and said it was "great to be back" at the event which he previously hosted in 2005. Producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin have promised that Chris will be a "phenomenal Oscars host" and described him as "the MVP of the entertainment industry" when they announced the news.
The promotional clip is sure to start the buzz around awards season, which officially starts with the Golden Globes on Sunday 10 January. Nominations balloting for the Oscars is currently underway and will end on Friday, with the nominees set to be announced on 14 January.

While there is still over a week to wait until the nominations are revealed, there has already been a lot of speculation that Leonardo DiCaprio may well win his first Best Actor Academy award for his role in The Revenant, after losing out on his four previous nominations.
Leonardo has already received nominations for both the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards, but is set to face some strong competition from Eddie Redmayne, who has also been nominated for his performance in The Danish Girl.
The 88th Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday 28 February at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood. It will be televised live on ABC and broadcasted in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
