The full presenting panel for Top Gear has been revealed. A total of seven motoring buffs comprise the line-up of the BBC show, which is fronted by Chris Evans.

The BBC Radio 2 presenter shared a photo of the full team on Twitter on Thursday morning, writing: "Morning from the new Top Gear team. All present and correct and smelling of eau de petrol."

The new Top Gear team has been announced

The photo sees him joined by former Friends star Matt LeBlanc, who was announced as a host earlier this month, and The Stig, who starred in the original version of Top Gear.

They are joined by ex-Formula 1 boss Eddie Jordan, YouTube star Chris Harris and journalist Rory Reid, along with the first ever female Top Gear host – racing driver Sabine Schmitz. The German-born driver will be familiar with viewers of the motoring show after making appearances in series five and series 11.

Chris Evans said of his new Top Gear team: "We really do have a bit of everything for everyone. A fellow lifelong petrol-head from the other side of the pond in Matt; a fearless speed-demon in the irrepressible and effervescent Sabine; the encyclopaedic, funny and wonderfully colourful character that is EJ; Chris, one of the world's top no-nonsense car reviewers; and Rory, who simply blew me away in his audition and fully deserves his place on the team."

They will replace former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond

Rory was the only member of the team recruited from the show's public auditions, and said he is "immensely proud" to have landed the role. The motoring journalist said he has been a fan of the programme for decades, adding: "I'm looking forward to bringing my brand of knowledge, energy and humour to what promises to be a very exciting new series."

The seven-strong team will replace previous presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond when the show returns to screens in May. The former presenting trio are busy working on their own rival show after signing a deal with Amazon Prime.
