Adele has had an incredible career that has seen her top the charts around the world and win countless awards, and now there are talks to document her life in a new movie – with actress Rebel Wilson at the helm. However the Hello singer says she will need to be asked for permission first.

Speaking on stage at her performance in London on Monday, Adele addressed the claims, telling the crowd: "I've heard there are rumours about Rebel Wilson will be playing me in a movie – let's see if that turns out to be true."

Adele said Rebel Wilson would need her permission to portray her in a film

She added: "Just because I'm plus-sized doesn't mean she's playing me."

It has been reported that Rebel is keen to portray Adele in an upcoming film about her meteoric rise to fame in a bid to prove herself as a serious actress.

A source told The Daily Star: "Rebel has always wanted to prove she can cut it as a serious actress. This is going to be a huge challenge for her because Adele is a legend at the peak of her popularity."

While Rebel doesn't share Adele's incredible singing capabilities, she isn't letting that hold her back.

"Rebel can't match Adele's vocal talents but she can certainly sing. And, with a little technical wizardry, she'll sound just like her in the movie," the source said.

The Bridesmaids star has previously claimed that she is often mistaken for Adele, telling the BBC: "Sometimes I get confused for Adele. And I'm like 'are you kidding me? Are you serious, she's like well better'."

She also joked about the confusion while hosting the MTV Music Awards in 2013, saying: "I am quite surprised they asked me to host. So is MTV. They thought I was Adele."
