Joe Manganiello drops out of TV series due to health issue

Joe Manganiello has been forced to drop out of an upcoming TV project due to a health issue. The 39-year-old star was set to film upcoming drama Six for the History Channel, but had to leave become of the demands of the role.Production has now been delayed while his role is being recast, a rep for the History Channel confirmed to Us Weekly.

Joe's health issue is thought to be linked to a pre-existing condition, with a source telling Entertainment Weekly that the actor is "not in danger" but that the "physical demands" of the series were too high.The eight-part military mini-series follows a Navy SEAL Team, whose mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a US citizen working with the terrorists. Magic Mike star Joe had been cast as the squad's leader, Rip Taggart.Six also stars Barry Sloane, Dominic Adams, Edwin Hodge, Kyle Schmidt and Juan Pablo Raba. It is not yet known when production will resume on the North Carolina set. "The backdrop surrounding this elite team of American soldiers – from their lives at home to the astonishing bravery they display serving our country – provides an amazing canvas for stories that deserve to be told," Paul Buccieri, President of the History Channel, said of the show.

The handsome star is married to Modern Family's Sofia Vergara

Prior to working on the miniseries, Joe was busy shooting the upcoming comedy Drunk Parents, in which he stars alongside Salma Hayek, Alec Baldwin and Bridget Moynahan.The True Blood actor – who married Modern Family's Sofia Vergara in November – also recently showed off his comedic chops in Pee-Wee's Big Holiday, which hit Netflix in March.
