Jennifer Aniston is keeping tight-lipped about the possibility of a Friends reunion. The actress, who played Rachel Green in the much-loved sitcom, laughed off a question about whether the cast could get back together in the future – 12 years after the show drew to a close.

The question came during an interview with E! News, in which the host asked Jennifer and her Mother's Day co-star Jason Sudeikis to quiz each other with pre-prepared questions. After asking Jennifer everything from what time she woke up to what she ate for breakfast, Jason inquired: "Will there ever be a Friends reunion?"

The question prompted Jennifer to burst out laughing and hit her cue cards onto a microphone that was out of shot.

"It's not in quotes so it could just be any group of friends," Jason continued.

"Any group of friends, like last night's group of friends or Friday night? Yep…" Jennifer said, avoiding answering the question.

Jennifer played Rachel Green in the long-running sitcom

Jennifer has previously described starring in Friends as "the best ten years" as she reminisced about the show in a recent tribute to director Jim Burrows. The 47-year-old reunited with her former co-stars Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc for the NBC special in February – although Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, was unable to attend.

"We would do anything for Jim Burrows because he really gave us the opportunity of a lifetime and probably the best ten years of our acting careers that we will forever remember," Jennifer said.

"We experienced friendship, family, heartbreak, babies, everything together. We also sort of had a wonderful experience with the world loving us, as well - they connected with us."

Fans of the show have been waiting for more than a decade to see the sitcom's stars reunited again; Friends came to an end in 2004, 10 series and a decade after it first premiered.

Nevertheless, co-creator Marta Kaufmann has been adamant that Friends won't be making a return any time in the future, telling E News! last year that fans "have to let it go. It'll never happen – not happening!"
