As soap comebacks go this one is pretty exciting: after almost 20 years away, Jude Cunningham is on her way back to Hollyoaks. Davinia Taylor will reprise her role as feisty Jude and, like us, can't wait to see what she's been up to.

Avid fans of the Channel 4 soap will remember Jude fleeing in disguise after being caught stealing expensive jewellery from a stately home, and it sounds like Cindy Cunningham's older sister hasn't changed one bit as Davinia, 38, has promised the new storyline will be "major".

She said in a statement: "I'm thrilled to be going back into Hollyoaks and bringing Jude back. I am desperate to see what on earth she has been doing for the past 18 years and what trouble she will no doubt cause when she returns to the village."

And Cindy will be thrilled to have her glamorous big sister around to stick up for her once again. A spokesperson for Hollyoaks said: "The residents are in for a shock when a familiar face returns in style to bring a touch of class to the village.

Jude was last seen fleeing the village in 1998

"She's the girl with the heart of gold whose luxurious lifestyle dazzled Cindy, who's always put her big sister on a pedestal. To Cindy's delight, Jude is more than a match for her arch-nemesis Marnie but just like Cindy, Jude always had a knack for causing chaos wherever she goes. Is her return all it seems?"

The Cunningham family were one of the originals introduced during the very first episode of Hollyoaks in 1995. Stephanie Waring has played Cindy since the character's introduction, making it even more exciting to be getting the sisters back together after so long.
