Game of Thrones season six is coming to an end, and the cast of the smash hit fantasy show will be receiving huge pay rises for the next season…just as long as they survive next week's season finale!

Scroll down to find out the highest paid actors in television

It has been revealed that the primary cast, which includes Lena Headley (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) will receive substantial pay rises for seasons seven and eight.

The main five cast members will receive pay rises for season seven

While the cast's previous salary negotiations put them at $300,000 (£201k) per episode, the five actors will now receive over $500,000 (£335k) per episode over next year's season, should their character make it to the seventh series.

According to Deadline, the contract does not guarantee that their character will make it to the end of the show, keeping in with Game of Thrones' reputation that not even the most popular fan favourite characters are safe. This pay rise gives the five actors a place on the list of highest paid actors in television.

3.       Kelsey Grammer, Frasier, $1.6million

4.       Tim Allen, Home Improvement, $1.25million

According to the showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff, there will be "between 70 and 75 hours" of the show before it reaches its conclusion. Since the season six finale will mark the show's 60th episode, this suggests that season's seven and eight will consist of around 7 episodes each instead of its usual ten.

The show's 60th episode, titled Winds of Winter, will premiere on Monday on Sky Atlantic.
