Coronation Street is saying goodbye to a major character in July, as it has been revealed that Kylie Platt, played by Paula Lane, will die.

Although details about the character's death have yet to be revealed, it appears that following Tony Stewart being blame for Callum's murder, Kylie feels uncomfortable about letting an innocent dead man take the blame for a crime she committed, and tries to persuades the family to leave Weatherfield for good for a fresh start.

However, the events in the episode will take a turn for the tragic when their future plans are cut short by Kylie's shocking death.

ITV have released photos and released a promo hinting at Kylie's final moments, which shows the character dressed all in white loading her suitcase into the back of a car, before it is revealed that the vehicle is actually a hearse with her name spelled in flowers, and she is surrounded by her mourning family and friends.

The final episodes will air on Monday 11 July, and Paula spoke about filming her last moments and the promo for the soap. She said: "It was very emotional to film the scenes knowing that I would never return and her death has huge consequences for David and all the family.

Paula is not the only actress in the show to have left or taken a long break from the show this year. Other names including Les Dennis (Michael) Alison King (Carla), Brooke Vincent (Sophie), Eileen Derbyshire (Emily) and David Neilson (Roy) chose to take a break at the beginning of year, while Ryan Thomas left Weatherfield for good at the end of June.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Thank you to everyone at Coronation Street for making the last 16 years of my life so special, time for a new chapter, new beginning wherever that may take me next.

"I'm excited to grow as an actors and more importantly, as a human being! And my last thanks goes to you lot!!! For supporting Jason Grimshaw since 2000, there's a lot love for "Jason" and it never goes unnoticed. Thank you so so much!!!!"
