There was a Twitter frenzy on Friday night as emotional Coronation Street viewers tweeted their thoughts on Kylie Platt’s shock exit.
The mum-of-two, played by actress Paula Lane, was fatally stabbed and died in husband David’s arms. Fans were quick to mourn her death, using the hashtag #GoodbyeKylie.
David was devastated by his wife's death
"Sobbing my heart out watching Corrie," one user wrote. "I still can’t come to terms with it #GoodbyeKylie," added another. "I don’t know if I can bear the second part of @itvcorrie. I’m an emotional wreck already. Kylie was my favourite #GoodbyeKylie," one viewer posted.
Jack P. Shephard, who plays Kylie’s husband David, recently opened up about filming some of his final scenes with Paula, admitting that he struggled.
The scenes were very emotional
"They were really harrowing to do," he said. "I just had to literally say words and not look at anyone, not look at Paula, or Helen [Worth]. The director had to tell me to actually give something. "I couldn’t, because that would have been it and we only had one or two shots. "Paula has been playing the part of Kylie for six years now. Explaining her decision to leave the hit ITV show, she said: "I have made no secret of the fact I never saw myself being in a long-running drama for the rest of my career. "I was only contracted for six months and ended up staying for six years. Six years is a nice amount of time to make an impact, but not be typecast, I was very conscious of that."
