The Strictly Come Dancing line-up has been given a serious touch of glamour, as Louise Redknapp has joined the growing list of confirmed names taking part in the new series. The singer joins Ed Balls, Will Young, Laura Whitmore, Ore Oduba and Melvin Odoom who have all been announced as contestants over the past few weeks.
Discussing the challenge ahead, Louise, 41, said: "I've sung in front of crowds of thousands before but the idea of stepping out onto that famous dancefloor with a world class professional dancer gives me butterflies just thinking about it!
Louise Redknapp is the sixth star confirmed for this year's show
"I'm a big fan of the show and I'm definitely going to go out there and give it 100 per cent as I want to make my boys proud."
Louise shot to fame in the 90s as part of R&B band Eternal, who went on to become the first girl group to sell over one million albums in the UK. After leaving the band in 1995, Louise enjoyed a successful solo career.
Jamie's mates are already grilling him about the infamous Strictly curse!
The Woman in Me hit maker is married to retired footballer Jamie, 43, and they have sons Charley, 12, and six-year-old Beau.
During a recent appearance on A League of their Own, Jamie joked about the infamous Strictly curse and said he hopes Louise gets "knocked out in the first round". Comedian Jack Whitehall quipped: "I saw a great magic trick at a party the other day – a Strictly dancer made a wedding ring disappear."
But it sounds like Jamie has absolutely nothing to worry about. In 2015 Louise told the Express: "Jamie is my best friend as well as my husband and when you have that sort of relationship you can't help but respect each other and always want to resolve any issues you have."
