Tulisa Contostavlos gives frank interview about her run-ins with the law and cosmetic surgery

September 5, 2016

Tulisa Contostavlos gave one of her most candid interviews to date as she appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday. The 26-year-old star was on the show to promote her new single, Sweet Like Chocolate, but during her four-minute sit-down with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid also touched upon difficult topics including her conviction for drink driving, assault charge and her ongoing cosmetic procedures.

Speaking about that particularly difficult time in her life, Tulisa said: "I call it the blackout period. It's just something that is part of the journey, part of life, made me into who I am."

She was then asked if she ever beat herself up over any of the incidents, starting with the 2014 drugs trial which was famously dismissed. "I don't. Not for the trial because I knew I was completely innocent all along, which was obviously proved at the end of it. Luckily, thank God."

On the subject of her alleged 2014 assault on celebrity blogger Vas J Morgan, she added: "No. Obviously I don't. For legal reasons, I don't want to start going into things, but I appealed it for a reason. It didn't happen, it's something I didn't commit."

The star did speak of her remorse after being convicted of drink driving earlier this year. "Yes, I've made a mistake, I openly admit that. I messed up and I've paid the price," she said.

Asked what she had learnt about herself, Tulisa concluded: "I think hard times either bring out the nest in you or the worst, and I think I've luckily managed to bring out all the positives in myself."

She added: "Everyone is a product of their own environment, and that, I think, has actually been the key lesson for me."

Before she left, Tulisa also opened up about her use of cosmetic enhancements. "It was fillers and I had an allergic reaction and I looked like Finding Nemo," she joked. "Well, they were all temporary so they dissolve. I did actually dissolve some myself, but the rest are left to dissolve, apart from my lips - I like keeping my lips. My lips obviously you have to maintain but the rest of the time (it's just) collagen waves which I love, and that's about it."
