Cheryl's ex turns down I'm A Celebrity offer

September 7, 2016

Cheryl's ex Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has turned down the chance to take part in this year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. The French restauranteur was widely rumoured to be heading into the jungle when the reality show airs later this year, but has now decided to "decline the offer".

"There have been rumours circulating for a while and he's a big fan of the show," Jean-Bernard's representative told metro.co.uk. "He's declined the offer and it's not something he would consider at this stage while he focuses on his restaurant business."

JB was first linked to I'm A Celeb in August when it was revealed that ITV bosses were lining him up for a stint on the show.

"He'd really like to become a UK TV personality," a source told Now magazine at the time. "When he was with Cheryl he shunned the limelight but now he's single he wants to build up his reputation. He wants to get himself on screen and is in talks to get onto a big ITV show."

Jean-Bernard and Cheryl tied the knot in July 2014 after a whirlwind three-month romance, but went their separate ways towards the end of last year. Speaking to the Mirror in May about his estranged wife, JB admitted: "It's been a tough year, I'm trying to move on. I'll never think badly of her. She is a great girl."

The 35-year-old also spoke about how they met. "I fell in love, what could I do?" he said. "I didn't know Cheryl was famous when I met her. I was having a party at my house in South Africa and she turned up, but I didn't know who she was. I always go for very beautiful women."

Cheryl, 33, has since moved on with One Direction's Liam Payne, 23. The couple made their red carpet debut in May at the Global Gift Gala in Paris, and have been inseparable ever since.

Just recently Simon Cowell opened up about their romance, and responded to reports that they were trying for their first baby, saying: "I guess that is what happens when you are with someone."

He continued: "Cheryl would be an amazing mum. I have seen her with my son Eric and other kids over the years and she is incredible. She is very good with them. I think she is in a good place in her life right now. I had dinner with her a couple of months ago with Liam and they were great."
