GBBO Week 3: Twitter reacts hilariously to Tom's interestingly shaped loaf

September 8, 2016

Week three of The Great British Bake Off saw the ten remaining bakers attempt impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with their showstoppers for 'bread week,' with Tom taking the coveted Star Baker of the week with his incredible 'Jörmungandr and Mjölnir' creation. However, presenter Mel Giedroyc was quick to make alternative suggestions as to what Tom's 'Hammer of Thor' creation could be, along with some cheeky fans on Twitter.

While Tom prepared the 'hammer of Thor' bread shape for the oven, Mel hinted that the shape could be misconstrued, hinting: "It's very male, isn't it?" Tom instantly picked up on her meaning and attempted to shut it down, joking: "It's a hammer, it's strong. It’s also a T, T for Thor. T for Tom. I'm not being led. My mum is going to watch this!"

Viewers joked over Tom's 'interesting' bread shape

Since the baking show is known for its euphemisms, viewers on Twitter instantly picked up on the presenter's meaning, with one joking: "Interesting shape, Tom. Very interesting," while another wrote: "Tom's got a very high opinion of himself, hasn't he?"

Others were quick to tease Tom's bread hammer of Thor, with GBBO's own Twitter account sharing a photoshopped version of the Marvel superhero holding Tom's creation, writing: "Budget cutbacks have forced Thor to trade his usual hammer for Tom’s bread one in the next movie."

GBBO's Twitter jokily tweeted a snap of Thor with the bread creation

Paul Hollywood was declared 'Mr Nasty' in the latest episode of GBBO as bread is one of his baking expertise and so he was more critical of the bakers' creations, with Mel calling him "the silverback of sourdough."

Fans were quick to complain about the judge after he caused Candice to be on the verge of tears after refusing to try her bread, with one viewer joking: "Paul: "IT'S RAW. YOU SHAME YOURSELF. YOU SHAME YOUR ANCESTORS." Candice: *weeps* Paul: "But there's nothing to be embarrassed about" while another wrote: "Paul Hollywood is such a bread bully. He just wants everyone to fail so he can be the bread king for ever in his big gluten castle."
