Jamie Oliver fuels Great British Bake Off rumours after sharing 'Batter Week' video

September 15, 2016

Jamie Oliver has fuelled rumours that he could be in the running as a new judge on The Great British Bake Off  by getting involved with this week's episode, 'Batter Week.' Although current judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood have yet to confirm if they will be returning for the new series, it has been hinted that the father-of-two could be up for filling any potential judge vacancies, after it was announced that the show would be moving from the BBC to Channel 4 next year, and current presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins would be stepping down as presenters.

On Wednesday, Jamie, whose name had already been mooted in relation to the potential new role, shared a video via Twitter reiterating the depth of his affection for the show.

The celebrity chef has previously spoken about how much he'd love to be a judge on the hugely popular baking programme, telling Now magazine: "We watch Bake Off. The whole family loves it. Secretly, there's always a part of me in mourning because I'd love to be one of the judges."

The fan reaction to Jamie's potential involvement in the show has been mixed, with one writing: "TBH I can see Jamie Oliver and Paul Hollywood taking #GBBO to Channel 4 and it not being too bad," while another joked: "Also, while we're at it. Jamie Oliver should not be allowed anywhere near a cake, ever! He'll ruin it like he ruined school dinners #GBBO."

It remains to be seen whether Mary and Paul will stay on in their roles as judges after Mel and Sue's shock departure announcement, but the Queen of baking has made it clear in the past that she considers the comedians an integral part of her 'team'.

"The four of us, Mel, Sue, Paul and me, are a team. We get on really well and our aim is to make a good programme," she said. "A lot of that goes to Mel and Sue - if you could hear what they say off camera you would laugh even more."

Do you think Jaime Oliver would make a good GBBO judge?
