Unfortunately the British star couldn't make it to the show herself, and since host Jimmy had himself lost out on an award, he decided to take the trophy for himself.
"No, no, no!" he interrupted. "We're not mailing this to her. Maggie, if you want this, it will be in the lost and found."
© Photo: Getty ImagesSarah Paulson took home her very first Emmy for her portrayal of Marcia Clark in The People v OJ Simpson on Sunday. The actress had brought along Marcia as her plus-one for the ceremony, and dedicated her award in her honour.
Sarah moved Marcia to tears as she described her as a "complicated, whip-smart, giant-hearted mother of two who woke up every day, put both feet on the floor and dedicated herself to righting an unconscionable wrong" in her acceptance speech.
"I, along with the rest of the world, had been superficial and careless in my judgment," Sarah said. "I'm glad to be able to stand here today in front of everyone and tell you I'm sorry."
