Attention muggles! The final trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is here, and it has given fans their first real insight into what to expect from JK Rowling's magical prequel. Accio November!

The film, which is set prior to the events of the Harry Potter series in 1920's New York City, follows magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) after he accidentally releases a host of magical creatures and attempts to round them up before they wreak havoc in the city.

Not only does the trailer introduce the American Ministry of Magic, it also shows us a glimpse of Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, an Auror tasked with finding Newt, and Ezra Miller as the mysterious Credence Barebone.

The trailer also draws upon Newt's blossoming friendship with muggle (or as they say in the USA 'No-Maj') Jacob, and American sisters Tina and Queenie, who find themselves caught up in Newt's adventure. Additionally, fans are given a look at a whole host of magical creatures, including an adorable Niffler and magical Bowtruckles.

Fans of the magical universe were particularly excited after the trailer mentioned dark wizard Grindelwald who, as Harry Potter fans know, was defeated by Dumbledore in a famous duel in 1945, hinting that he and possibly a young Dumbledore would make an appearance at some point in the series.

One fan wrote: "Excuse me but they mentioned Grindelwald and now I need to lie down #FantasticBeasts," while another added: "The name drop, the Statute of Secrecy tease... it all points out to #FantasticBeasts trilogy leading up to Grindelwald's war attempt," another added.

It was recently announced that there is already a sequel in the works, and Jo has hinted that the series will be somehow linked to the events in Harry Potter. Speaking at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the author said: "It's more preview-y I think than people realise."
