X Factor: Honey G's success causes outrage on Twitter

October 3, 2016

X Factor fans have threatened to boycott the show following Sharon Osbourne's decision to send Honey G through to the live shows. The rapper, who is seen as this year's token comedy act, made it into the Over 25s final three on Sunday night following her memorable rendition of Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise.

"It would be a big risk putting you through, but I've taken risks all my life," Sharon said as she announced her decision to put Honey G through at the expense of James Wilson, Christopher Peyton, Janet Grogan and Samantha Atkinson. "You're gonna be stuck with me."

It didn't take long for viewers to take to Twitter to air their frustration. "Why do I waste my life watching X Factor… Not watching it ever again," one fan wrote, while another bitterly added: "I think I am going to boycott this year's xfactor on the grounds that the judges are turning the show into a laughing stock #HoneyG #deluded."

One fan compared the 35-year-old aspiring rapper making it through to "Trump getting this far in the US election".

Sharon was joined for the Judges' Houses round by singer Robbie Williams, who was clearly tickled by Honey G's performance.

"She makes me happy," he admitted. "But her talent for making me happy isn't the talent for the show… When I wake up tomorrow, will I remember Honey G? I think I'll remember Honey G for the rest of my life!"

The remaining 12 X Factor contestants will perform live for the first time on Saturday, when Honey G will no doubt pull out all the stops to prove her critics wrong. She originally failed to get a place in the Six Chair Challenge round, but was brought back into the competition after telling Sharon she was "making the biggest mistake of her entire life" by sending her home.
