The Great British Bake Off had the nation welling up last night after Candice was named the champion of 2016's competition. However, viewers of the incredibly popular baking show seemed even more delighted by the announcement that Val, a firm fan favourite of the show, would be taking a baking trip to Ayia Napa.

Fans of the 66-year-old pensioner were quick to discuss her planned trip, with many suggesting that the BBC film her adventures. One viewer tweeted: "If the BBC don't follow Val's adventures in Ayia Napa then they've seriously let us all down," while another added: "I think we're all owed a spin off documentary following Val's antics in Ayia Napa to compensate #GBBO losing Mary, Mel and Sue."

Fans suggested Val and Selasi team up for a new BBC show

Even Gogglebox's Steph and Dom had something to say about Val's trip, writing: " It looks like Val is having an absolutely cracker in Ayia Napa. #GBBOFinal #ChinChin" with a photoshopped snap of Val partying on a boat.

Fans were also excited to hear that fellow favourite Selasi would be taking a motorcycle trip around Europe, with one suggesting the pair join forces, tweeting: "TV Idea: Selasi and Val riding around on motorbikes baking cakes. Also maybe solving crimes. #GBBO."

Another wrote: "Future shows for BBC to consider: - Val's Adventures In Napa - Ride With Me: Selasi's European Roadtrip - Mary Berry's Fave Tipples."

The pair were together last night with their fellow GBBO contestants to watch the final episode of the series at Selasi's viewing party, and the chilled out banker shared a snap of himself with a tower of pizza boxes, writing: "Leaning tower? 45-50 guests means no cooking ! #Pizza and #Booze #GBBOfinal #Partay."

He also shared a video of the contestants celebrating the end of the episode, writing: " Thanks to all the bakers for coming to the party! They're in there somewhere! Great finals #gbbofinal now time to dance and drink."
