ITV have announced the launch of a brand new TV entertainment series in 2017 titled The Nightly Show. The daily 30-minute programme will be on five days a week for eight weeks, and will feature a different celebrity host each week – with David Walliams first in the hot seat.

According to the broadcaster, The Nightly Show will feature a mixture of monologues, studio games, celebrity guests, experts and VTs, and comedian David has said he is "thrilled to be the first host". The Nightly Show will be recorded 'as live' every day at 6pm, and will air on ITV at 10pm each night.

David is currently preparing for a very busy festive season. He is due to host a Christmas special of the gameshow Blankety Blank, and on Friday 25 November will launch the new series of his own new comedy show, Walliams & Friend. Each week, David will perform a medley of sketches with one other famous face – plus a supporting cast – in front of a live studio audience.

The friends for the first series are Jack Whitehall, Harry Enfield, Meera Syal, Sheridan Smith and Miranda Richardson. Hugh Bonneville, meanwhile, will appear in the show's Christmas special next month.
