Emily Middlemas may be focusing on her performances on The X Factor, but the singer can't help miss her boyfriend Ryan Lawrie. Ryan left the competition last week and ever since, Emily has had to adjust to life on the show without him.

On Friday she tweeted "I miss you" accompanied by a sad face emoji, sharing a throwback clip of her and Ryan hugging. She also posted a sweet photo just days after Ryan, 20, was eliminated, showing he was still on her mind. Alongside a close-up snap of her and Ryan's interlocked hands, she posted an emoji of the world.

Ryan, likewise, showed he couldn't stop thinking about her as he wrote on Instagram: "I don't know why she covers her face! I miss you so much Emily. Go win this."

Emily, 18, has admitted that life in the X Factor house is "tough" without her boyfriend. Competition is heating up as the mid-December final looms and Emily is no doubt hoping for a place.

"It's been tough, I'm not going to lie," she told express.co.uk when asked how she was coping. "We were always there for each other and helped each other… It's hard without him and his guidance, like if a song is okay."

Emily, 18, admitted the X Factor was "tough" without her boyfriend

"I'm really proud of him because he walked away with a massive smile on his face, it made me realise, it is such an amazing experience," she added. "We've been in it together for weeks – we were just so grateful. He never even thought he'd get to the live shows."

Emily was speaking at the ITV gala, where she stunned in a black sequinned dress. Ryan clearly thought the world of his girlfriend, as he shared a photo of her and tweeted: "I am so lucky. This is my girlfriend. Wow."

The couple first met a few years ago in Glasgow

The pair have known each other for years through gigging in Glasgow, although they only started dating after being reunited on The X Factor. "I met her backstage at a gig we were doing in Glasgow four years ago," Ryan explained to Star magazine. "We were friends for a long time, then eventually last year something just clicked."

Sadly the singer's X Factor dreams were dashed when he was eliminated from the competition last week. Ryan faced Honey G in the sing-off and was voted out by three of the four judges. After the verdict was announced, Emily was seen consoling her boyfriend and hugging him on stage.
