Michelle Keegan is among the stars who have sent messages of congratulations to Adam Thomas following his stint on I'm A Celebrity. The 28-year-old Emmerdale actor ended up coming third in the show, behind Joel Dommett and winner Scarlett Moffatt, but earned a legion of new fans thanks to his infectious personality and cheeky sense of humour.

"Awwww well done @adamthomas21 Kept us entertained for weeks. 110% effort," Michelle tweeted. She wasn't the only celeb rooting for Adam. Shortly before the results were announced, Chris Bisson wrote: "OMG. They pushed him to the end!!! Go on @adamthomas21. Flexing those muscles. #KingAdam." Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine added: "I thought from the start @adamthomas21 would win. He's up against some tough, lovely competition in there, but I think he'll do it!"

Adam might not have won the series, but the self-proclaimed 'Mr Bushtucker Trial' certainly impressed the public, facing up to his fears in no less than 11 challenges. Speaking to Ant and Dec after his exit, Adam said: "I'm just happy I got this far. I didn't expect to get to the final so this is just unbelievable. What an experience! I wouldn't change any of it for the world. It was just laughter and laughter. The two left in there [Scarlett and Joel] deserve it so much."

But not everyone agreed with the public vote – including Adam's older brother, Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas. He took to Twitter shortly after Adam left the camp and seemed to suggest there was something suspicious about the results. "Not having it!!!! Absolutely gutted!!! Doesn't make any sense!!!!" he wrote.

His message quickly caused a stir on social media, with many fans agreeing with Ryan's assessment. "I agree I thought he was the winner for sure," one wrote. "He was for me and many others. Best entertainment all year." Singer Antony Costa added: "Thought it was a no brainer fella, your bro has done so well though."

But some others defended the result. "@ryanjamesthomas people always say it's a fix if their fave doesn't win," one commented, with another concluding: "@ryanjamesthomas isn't that hard, people clearly like the other two more…"
