Continuing her meteoric rise in the acting world, Michelle Keegan has undergone some sort of dramatic transformation for her latest role. For ITV's upcoming drama, Tina and Bobby, the 29-year-old has ditched her long brunette mane for a blonde style as she portrays former England captain Bobby Moore's wife Tina.
Speaking about the bold makeover, the actress revealed she was "apprehensive" to dye her hair platinum blonde. She explained: "I went through a massive transformation to play Tina. The colourist, Vernon Deysel, did a great job with changing the colour of my hair. I was apprehensive at first but I wanted to embrace the character fully. A lot of actors make dramatic changes to their appearance for the characters they are playing. I thought this was a great role and I wanted to give everything to it."

The biopic recounts the life of the legendary England captain, in which Michelle will play the sportsman's wife. Starting from their humble beginnings as young lovebirds, the drama will then focus on their dizzy heights of superstardom. The lead role will be played by Grantchester actor Lorne MacFadyen, while Patsy Kensit takes on Tina’s mother Betty and David Bamber as England Manager Alf Ramsey.
Written by Lauren Klee, Tina and Bobby is an epic love story about an ordinary girl from Essex who fell head over heels in love with an ordinary boy, who just happened to be an extraordinarily talented footballer. The three-part drama is based on Tina Moore's memoir, Bobby Moore: By The Person Who Knew Him Best.

Of her character, Michelle said: "Tina is a very confident and strong woman. She's very independent too. A lot of the time Tina was the backbone of their marriage and Bobby always went to her for advice. Although she was in the background when it came to his career, in their marriage she was always at the forefront of their relationship." She added: "I love playing strong women but I just loved the scripts. Tina's story mentally and emotionally engaged me."
Tina and Bobby will premiere on Friday January 13th at 9pm on ITV1.
