X Factor host Dermot O'Leary to open 2017 National Television Awards with a song!

Famed for presenting singing talent show The X Factor, Dermot O'Leary will be treating fans to a little musical number himself when he opens this year's National Television Awards. The much-loved TV star will kick-start proceedings with a song as the ceremony gets underway on Wednesday 25th January. Held at London's O2, the NTAs will see hundreds of stars will come together to celebrate television's best-loved shows and actors from the past 12 months.

This year includes a brand new category, Period Drama. Recognising the huge appeal of historical sagas, the award sees ITV newcomer Victoria and the BBC's Poldark renew their Sunday night rivalry - alongside returning favourite Call The Midwife, Peaky Blinders and Netflix newcomer Stranger Things.

It's the battle of the sexes for the best Drama Performance gong as The Night Manager's leading man Tom Hiddleston and Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy compete against each other, as well as Happy Valley's heroic Sarah Lancashire and Jenna Coleman for her portrayal of the spirited young queen in Victoria.

Britain's Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor will battle it out for the best Talent Show, while Ant and Dec - who have won the NTAs Presenter category for the last 15 years - are pitted against Mel and Sue as well as other TV favourites Gary Lineker, James Corden and Rylan Clark-Neal.
