Television presenter Davina McCall has revealed she has turned down the opportunity to appear on Strictly Come Dancing because her husband, Matthew Robertson, would feel "uncomfortable" watching her get close to a handsome male dancer. In an interview with New Magazine, the 49-year-old explained: "I get asked to do [Strictly] every year and I'd love to, but I couldn't because I know how hard those contestants have to work.

"You have to rehearse all week and film all weekend, and it's brutal on family life. Matthew would not like me being with all those sexy men in their tight trousers with their pert bottoms either. Not on your nelly."

Davina McCall says she won't take part in Strictly Come Dancing

The star, who fronts The Jump, Make My Body Better and Long Lost Family, confessed she wouldn't like it if her partner - who has presented Pet Rescue - took part on the show either. "I'm not sure if I would like it if Matthew did it either," she admitted. "The show has got quite an intense track record. Every season something happens with someone. Marriage does not appear to be an obstacle."

"It's brutal on family life," she confessed in a new interview

Davina and Matthew - who are parents to two daughters, Holly and Tilly and a son, Chester - have been married for over 16 years. The former Big Brother host recently opened up about their "committed" relationship, telling The Sun: "I think we're really committed to staying together and we're solid. I'm very lucky, because as far as I know I've married a really faithful guy. When I think of Matthew and me in our 70s I see us on a world cruise with entertainment every night!"

However, Davina admitted that their relationship hasn't always been plain sailing. "Of course we've had problems - everyone has problems," she added. "But my overriding feeling, even on a day when I really hate him and he's annoying me, is that I still know that I'm going to be with him forever and that I don't want to be with anyone else."
