Fifth time's a charm for Ryan Gosling, who is now a Golden Globe Award winner after picking up the trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 2017 Golden Globes for his role in La La Land. And after his emotional acceptance speech to his wife, Eva Mendes, there were some misty eyes at the Beverly Hills Hotel!
After thanking the movie's director Damian Chazelle and leading lady Emma Stone, the Canadian star turned serious to thank a very special person in his life - his longtime love Eva Mendes. "While I was singing and dancing and having one of the best experience of my life, my ladywas raising our daughter, pregnant with our other all while her brother was battlingcancer," said the actor before dedicating the trophy to the memory of Eva's late brother Carlos.
The father of two also thanked his daughters, Esmeralda and Amada.
Ryan stars in La La Land opposite Emma Stone
Ryan scored the award for his unbelievable performance as a struggling jazz musician in Damien Chazelle's modern day music La La Land. The film is being touted as the awards season darling and is expected to fetch numerous Oscar nominations later this month.
In the past, Ryan received nods for his work in The Ides of March (2011), Crazy. Stupid. Love (2011), Blue Valentine (2010)and Lars and the Real Girl (2007).
