She's known for her cheeky sense of humour. And Ellen DeGeneres couldn't resist the urge to poke fun at herself when she teamed up with Ryan Gosling for an exclusive video this week. During her chat show on Wednesday, the 58-year-old unveiled behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of La La Land, showing her in the lead female role, rather than Golden Globe winner Emma Stone.
She teased: "They just released a behind-the-scenes trailer, and it turns out Emma Stone was not their first choice." In the parody video, Ellen can be seen getting swept off her feet by handsome star Ryan, before planting a kiss on his cheek.
The critically-acclaimed film's writer and director, Damien Chazelle, then appears onscreen discussing the incredible onscreen chemistry between the pair. "When we were casting up the movie, part of the appeal to me was that you know they’re going to be a couple," he explained. "You can see them and imagine them together."
Producer Marc Platt also comments on how much he loved the connection between Ryan and his "co-star", saying: "You have two actors who have an onscreen chemistry that I think is one for the ages." At the end of the video, Damien added: "To get the chance to work with both of them is just a complete dream come true."

La La Land, which won seven awards, including best musical or comedy film, at this year's Golden Globes, tells the story of a struggling actress Mia Dolan (Emma) and a dedicated musician, Sebastian Wilder (Ryan) who are struggling to make ends meet before falling in love. The musical has also been nominated for 11 BAFTA Awards, including best film, best director and original screenplay.
