Jenna Coleman has delighted her followers by sharing the first picture of herself in costume on set of the second series of ITV's Victoria. The actress, who plays the titular role, took to her Instagram page on Monday to post the lovely snap, which sees her reunited with Almonzo, the white horse she was often spotted with in the first season of the popular period drama. She simply captioned the beautiful photo with "reunited".

Just last week, the official Twitter page of Victoria announced that filming is well and truly underway. Posting an image from the set of the cast gathered in a room, the caption read: "And so series 2 begins... #Victoria #VictoriaPBS." The show's production company Mammoth Screen also shared a video of an elaborate chandelier, teasing fans by asking them which show they were on set for. Jenna, who rose to fame for playing Clara Oswald in Doctor Who, plays the fresh-faced Queen alongside Tom Hughes, who stars as Prince Albert.

Victoria became the new Sunday night prime-time drama last year - pulling in an average of 7.7 million viewers each week. It was recently confirmed that leading lady Jenna and her real-life and on-screen love interest Tom will return in the second series of Victoria as well as a 2017 Christmas special. The biopic will follow Victoria as she learns how to balance raising children with her duties as a wife and as a monarch.

During a recent Twitter Q&A with Radio Times, screenwriter Daisy Goodwin was asked if the new series would tell the story of Prince Albert's death in 1861, to which she tweeted: "We will stay in the 1840s so Albert is safe… for now." Daisy, who studied the diaries of Queen Victoria at university, added that there is "no shortage of story" so fans could expect many more series to follow. Victoria was also dubbed the "next Downton Abbey" especially as the model of having a Christmas special follows that of the ITV drama.
