Dame Helen Mirren has predicted who will win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The stage and screen star, who scooped an Academy Award for her turn in The Queen in 2006, shared her hopes during an event in London. "I don't think it will happen, but my friend and actress Naomie Harris, who is so unbelievably brilliant in Moonlight, I'm very, very thrilled to see her nominated. I would love her to win," said Helen. The 71-year-old actress then gave her prediction, saying: "Viola Davis will win, she's also fantastic."

Oscars 2017: everything you need to know

Both Viola and Naomie have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress, facing Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams and Octavia Spencer in the same category. Viola, who is being recognised for her role in Fences, has already been presented with a BAFTA and a Golden Globe this awards season.

Dame Helen was speaking at the launch of the 'All Worth It' campaign, run by L'Oreal in collaboration with The Prince's Trust. The campaign, which promotes self-worth and self-confidence, has a host of famous faces to its name, including Katie Piper and singer Cheryl, who showed off her gorgeous baby bump in the official images. In the campaign video, Helen admits: "Self doubt. Where do I begin? I mean, I had it yesterday. A lack of self-confidence is always with me. The thing to recognise is that it's a journey and we're all on this journey from self doubt to self worth. And it's a journey that never stops."

The veteran actress admitted she even had a moment of self doubt before taking the platform at Thursday's launch. "(I thought) I'm not good enough, I don't know what to say, I can't do it," said Helen. "But of course you have to put your chin up and get out there and do it and that's something I've learned as an actor. And that is what this incredible programme is going to do. It's going to teach the kids, the young people and possibly maybe the older people too – it's not an age thing! I know it's the hardest when you're young, but it's not something that you miraculously grow out of, it's an ongoing battle that one has with oneself and the world about you."

The one thing that drives Helen crazy about her husband

When asked who she turns to in moments of doubt, Helen, who is married to director Taylor Hackford, said: "Actually, do you know, I'm incredibly private in my moments of self doubt. I tend to not want to share them with anyone because I don't know. I'm frightened, I'm nervous of the weakness that it shows. Of course it's great to have a loved one and I do share to a certain extent with my husband, but even with him I tend to keep things very bottled up and to myself." She added: "Good mates. Mates in a funny way are better at it than husbands because you can be more honest with them. Especially ones that you've known for your whole life and they've seen you through everything. A mate is a good thing to have."
