Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left in shock – and in stitches – after Dawn French came out with a corker on This Morning. The comedian was making an appearance on Wednesday's segment of the show when she spoke about her age. Dawn, 59, revealed that she is working on a piece of non-fiction that will be published around her October birthday.
Holly's best giggle moments on This Morning
"I'm 60 this year," said an amazed Dawn. "How did that happen? Because when I was a kid, you know I used to look at people who were 60 and just think, you should just really die... because what is the point of you now?" Clearly taken aback by her comment, Phil dropped his head in his hands while Holly cracked up, shaking her head at Dawn in disbelief. The actress continued: "When I was little, that's what I used to think about people who were 60. I did – and now I'm that person! Sixty doesn't feel like anything, it feels just like I was 40 or whatever."

Dawn revealed that her new book would be a kind of "diary" where one page is written by her, and the other is left for the reader to fill in. The Vicar of Dibley star, who also has her hands full with a one-woman show, chuckled and said: "I've got loads to say." While the actress was on This Morning to promote her new show Little Big Shots, a programme about talented youngsters, viewers were more concerned with her age.
