Broadchurch received its share of complaints last night over how David Tennant's character Alec Hardy makes a cup of tea! In the show, the tired Detective Inspector puts a cup of tea in the microwave to warm it up, and fans were quick to point out that this was the wrong thing to do when making a cuppa! One wrote: "As I see the whole fandom (me included) is totally shocked about Hardy using the microwave to make his tea because WHAT." Another added: "He's just microwaved his tea? That's so wrong. #Broadchurch."

David's tea making skills sent Twitter into a frenzy

The third episode of the hit show saw DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Coleman) and Alec continue their investigation into finding Trish's attacker. Arthur Darvill, who plays Reverend Paul Coates in the show, opened up about the third series' plot. "This series, I think, is going to be brilliant," he told Digital Spy. "I can't tell you too much about it, but the subject matter of it is really heavy. I loved the second series of Broadchurch – I think it was really necessary to tell that part of the story - but I think this series has more of the feel of the first series."

Speaking about the secrecy surrounding the third series, David said: "Everyone found it rather exhausting. We were all issued with different passwords for different things. So new bits of script would come through and you'd forget what your password was and have to phone somebody up and prove it was you. That drove me mad, if I'm honest. I'd phone up the office and go, 'I need it on paper, I can't cope!'" Writer Chris Chiball has confirmed that this will be the final series of the show. "We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters," he said. "I hope it's a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and a show that means so much to me."
