Beyoncé top choice to voice Nala in live-action Lion King remake

Beyoncé is reportedly the top choice to voice Nala in the upcoming Lion King live-action remake. According to Variety, sources have revealed that the director of the upcoming adaptation, Jon Favreau, and the studio will do "whatever it takes" to make the filming work with her schedule. Fans have already reacted with delight to the news, with one tweeting: "Bey is the ONLY choice for Nala. Nala the Queen. Beyoncé the QUEEN. Game over." Another joked: "Me: I don't need a Lion King remake. Them: Beyoncé is gonna voice Nala. Me: ahhhhhhh zabenyaaaaaaaa."

The singer is reportedly the top choice for the role

It has already been confirmed that Donald Glover has been cast in the lead role as Simba, while James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Simba's father, Mufasa. Jon announced the exciting news on Twitter, writing: "I just can't wait to be king. #Simba," accompanied by a snap of Donald. He then followed the tweet with a photo of James, writing: "Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa."

Disney is currently focused on creating live-action adaptations of their most popular animations, and have found incredible success with The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Maleficent (based on Sleeping Beauty). They have also announced plans to adapt Mulan, 101 Dalmatians and The Little Mermaid. Meanwhile, there is a sequel currently in the works to the popular 2007 Disney film, Enchanted. Titled Disenchanted, the film is expected to begin shooting in summer 2017, and the official synopsis reads: "Ten years after her happily ever after, Giselle questions her happiness, inadvertently turning the lives of those in the real world and Andalasia upside down in the process." Chatting on This Morning, Giselle actress Amy Adams said: "They are working on it, its titled as of now Disenchanted and is set 10 years after [the original] but I don't know all the details, but I look forward to it."
