Holly Willoughby threw This Morning into chaos when she dropped out of her presenting duties at short notice on Monday morning, leaving co-host Phillip Schofield to host the popular daytime show with Rylan Clark. During a television advert break before the show aired, Phillip revealed that his on-screen partner was ill as he teased that someone else will be filling her shoes. "Holly's not very well today so you've got about 15 minutes to work out who is going to be beside me later," he told viewers.

Holly's best giggle moments on This Morning

When This Morning started, Phillip explained that his usual co-host was "not very well today" before introducing Rylan as the unexpected replacement. He explained: "I got a text saying Rylan is coming in, and I said I'd present it on my own!" Insisting that his reluctance to present alongside Rylan was down to the "height problem," the 55-year-old joked that he would have to use a "booster seat". Rylan, 28, then quipped: "Phillip Schofield and an X Factor reject? Welcome to the end of This Morning!"

And it seems celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo was especially disappointed not to have been asked to step in. "Why did you not ask me to do it? You knew that I was coming in this morning to cook," the TV chef chimed in. "He's been here five minutes on This Morning and he's hosting the show. Thirteen years I've been here." Quick to defend Rylan, Philip remarked: "A - You haven't even got a mic on and b - when are you ever, ever here on time?" He then turned the attention to Holly, saying: "If you're watching Holly, this is all your fault." He added: "She texted me this morning and you know the cat she's got that's peeing on the sofas and everywhere. She said, 'I've got up and I've just been sick on the cat.'"
