Eamonn Holmes is heading back to breakfast television. The 57-year-old This Morning presenter will be replacing Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain over the Easter period, while Piers is away on holiday. Eamonn is set to return to his "old stomping ground" when he reunites with former colleagues Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins next week. The TV star, who recently recovered from hip surgery, previously hosted GMTV for 12 years and Sky News' Sunrise for 11 years. He said in a statement: "After the last four months of lie-ins, I feel refreshed and my hips have healed well. Breakfast TV is what I am best known for so it’s nice to be back doing a short spell of early starts and to be back at my old stomping ground."

Eamonn left GMTV in April 2005 before going on to front Sky News' new Sunrise programme. Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte co-hosted the show with Eamonn from 2007 until 2014 before she moved to ITV. Eamonn, meanwhile, stepped down from Sky last October after more than a decade hosting.

Neil Thompson, editor of Good Morning Britain, said: "Eamonn and I first worked together on the very first edition of GMTV on the 1st January 1993. He's a phenomenal broadcaster and journalist so it's great to be able to work with him again on Good Morning Britain this Easter."

Eamonn is married to fellow This Morning star Ruth Langsford, and the couple are proud parents to son Jack. Last month, Eamonn took to Instagram to share a very rare photo of Jack in celebration of his 15th birthday. Alongside the throwback image, the presenter wrote: "No time since he was this size… Now he's a man towering over his Mummy & Daddy. Happy 15th birthday to our Jack."
