Holly Willoughby has reassured fans that she is feeling better following her recent absence from This Morning. The 36-year-old missed two episodes of the daytime TV show – on Monday and Tuesday – after coming down with a sickness bug, but appeared on her pre-recorded show Play to the Whistle on ITV on Tuesday night. Shortly after the episode ended, Holly took to Twitter to thank fans for their wellwishes. "Hope you're enjoying #pttw…" she wrote. "Thank you for all your lovely messages, I'm feeling much better and will be back at @thismorning tomorrow."

Holly Willoughby has confirmed she will be back for Wednesday's episode of This Morning

It was welcome news for Holly's fans. "That's good. We've all missed you!" one wrote, with another adding: "Will be lovely to see you back Holly. You brighten up our screens." Some cheeky followers questioned whether mum-of-three Holly had been off because of morning sickness. "Hope you feel better. Is it just sickness in the morning?" one asked, with another writing: "coughs… morning sickness :P."

Holly had to be replaced at the last-minute on Monday when she pulled out of presenting duties two hours before This Morning was due to air. Co-host Phillip Schofield told viewers: "Holly's not very well today so I've been given the most unlikely partner. I can't wait for this!" before introducing his new colleague for the day, Rylan Clarke-Neale. Phillip then added: "Get well soon... She text me this morning and said she got up and threw up all over the cat!"

On Tuesday, Holly was replaced by Phillip's former Going Live! co-host Sarah Greene, with ITV confirming the news ahead of the show. "With @hollywills still unwell, today we're Going Live! @Schofe is reuniting with @RealSarahGreene to present today's show," a message on This Morning's Twitter account read. Phillip later confirmed on air that Holly was still feeling unwell because of a bug going round the Willoughby household, with Sarah adding that she was "happy to keep Holly's seat warm while she's at home".
