The first images from the upcoming adaptation of Dirty Dancing have been released, showing Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes fill Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze's dancing shoes as the iconic couple – Baby and Johnny. The photos reveal that the new adaptation has captured the same iconic moments as the original film, including Baby and Johnny practising their lift in the lake and dancing in front of an audience.

ABC released photos from the upcoming film

Abigail shared several snaps from the TV film on her Instagram account, and captioned the post: "Casually dancing around a fireplace, as one does… AND just casually dippin' around a fireplace. As one also does. #sneakpeek #dirtydancing" Will and Grace star Debra Messing will also star in the upcoming film as Marjorie Houseman, Baby's mum, and opened up to ABC about how much the original film meant to her. "I remember being a kid when it came out and sitting in the movie theatre and thinking, 'This is the first time I've actually seen a leading lady who isn't perfect,'" she explained. "It was a turning point for me. Like I thought, 'Oh, I'm Jewish and I'm awkward, oh I'm Baby!'"
