The singer's fans were quick to discuss the film, with one writing: "I can't wait till we can see this in the UK - hopefully not too long," while another added: "I'm so excited!" The X Factor judge has previously opened up about her initial reluctance to take on the role due to her stance on abortions, an issue that her character deals with in the film. She told The Daily Mail: "I got the role and I almost didn't take it because I didn't want to promote abortion, because my character has an abortion.  But I was like, hopefully they can learn from you know her ways and I can be a positive influence. My mum got pregnant with me when she was 17 and had me when she was 18. She chose. Her parents were never going to let her have an abortion. So I came out, so I just want to, you know, encourage everybody to keep your babies."

The cast also includes Abigail Breslin as Baby, and Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman, Baby's mum. The Will and Grace star opened up to ABC about how much the original film meant to her, explaining: "I remember being a kid when it came out and sitting in the movie theatre and thinking, 'This is the first time I've actually seen a leading lady who isn't perfect. It was a turning point for me. Like I thought, 'Oh, I'm Jewish and I'm awkward, oh I'm Baby!'"
