Broadway has found its two leading ladies who will star as Anna and Elsa in the new Frozen musical! Caissie Levy will take on the role of Elsa, the elder sister with magical powers who banishes herself from the family's Arendelle kingdom, while Patti Murin will play younger sister Anna, who reaches out to her sibling to reconnect and save their kingdom. The musical will open at New York City's St. James Theatre in the spring of 2018, however it will make its stage debut as an "out-of-town try-out" in Denver, in Colorado.

Cassie, 36, tweeted: "Thanks so much for the crazy outpouring of love! Thrilled the news is finally out and can't wait to freeze it up in Denver & Broadway." The Canadian stage actress is best known for her leading roles as Fantine in Les Miserables and Elphaba in Wicked. Patti, also 36, joked on Twitter: "If you don't like happiness or excitement or princesses or snow or chocolate or fun, you should probably unfollow me now. #youvebeenwarned."

Joining the two actresses on stage are Greg Hildreth, who will play the lovable snowman Olaf, Jelani Alladin, who will play Kristoff, John Riddle as Hans and Robert Creighton as the Duke of Weselton. The musical will be based on the popular children's blockbuster Frozen, which was released in 2003 and grossed nearly £1 billion worldwide. Idina Menzel voiced the character of Elsa, while Kristen Bell voiced younger sister Anna.

A few weeks ago the film's producer Peter Del Vecho revealed that Elsa was originally intended to be the villain of the movie. "We started out with an evil female villain and an innocent female heroine and the ending involved a big epic battle with snow monsters that Elsa had created as her army," Peter told Entertainment Weekly. He also explained that the original prophecy told of a ruler "with a frozen heart will bring destruction to the kingdom of Arendelle".
