Viewers ofFirst Dates were left in tears during an episode which saw cancer survivor Sarah open up about her amputated leg while on a blind date with Phil. The 21-year-old was only 16 when she was diagnosed with bone cancer, and spoke about how she used to hide her prosthetic leg while dating. Speaking to the camera, she said: "When I first went dating, I had my leg covered up so that the guys I went on dates with couldn't see that I had my leg amputated. Now, I've decided to get my leg out and uncover it, so they can see and it's there and it's out in the open." After Sarah told Phil about how she lost her leg, he said: "The thing was that I was going to ask and I didn't know how to ask. That was the difficult thing for me. At the end of the day your leg isn't you, it's just a limb isn't it." He then added: "You're a beautiful girl and I've got total admiration for you."

At the end of the episode, the show revealed that the couple were now officially together and went on a date to the beach where Phil carried Sarah into the sea, which is something she said she would love to do during the episode.
