After stepping down from The Great British Bake Off last summer, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins look set to return in another popular family show. The pair have been linked to an upcoming revamp of The Generation Game, following in the footsteps of former hosts Bruce Forsyth, Larry Grayson and Jim Davidson. According to the Sun, the Saturday night game show could be part of a "package" offered to Mel and Sue after they announced their loyalty to the BBC, and refused to move to Channel 4 with Bake Off. An insider told the newspaper: "Mel and Sue are seen as exactly what this classic show needs. They were seen as a perfect replacement." The BBC, meanwhile, refused to comment on the "speculation".

Sue, meanwhile, is set to take on another high-profile role this weekend, when she replaces Graham Norton as the host of the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday night. It will be Sue's first time fronting the ceremony; Graham has run the show since 2007, taking just one year off in 2012.

The TV star, 47, recently opened up about the upcoming new series of GBBO – starring Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding – and admitted she probably won’t be watching it. Speaking about her and Mel's decision to remain with the BBC after the show’s controversial move to Channel 4, Sue told the Daily Mail: "There was no hesitation. We both wish it well. Hand on heart, I don't know if I'd watch it, because that might be a bit weird. But that doesn't mean that you don’t want it to succeed in your absence."
