Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 began filming on Monday, and to mark the occasion Warner Bros. Studios has released the plot details, giving fans an insight on what to expect from the highly-anticipated sequel. The synopsis reads: "Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore."

Eddie Redmayne will return as Newt Scamander
It continues: "But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander." Warner Bros. added that the group of friends from the first film – Newt Scamander, Tina, Queenie and Jacob – will return for the sequel, and that stopping Grindelwald will "test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world".

The synopsis confirmed that Jude Law will make his first appearance as a young Albus Dumbledore. The Alfie actor was a casting decision which divided fans, and director David Yates opened up about why Jude was the perfect choice. "Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I've long admired and I'm looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him," he said. "I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life." At the time, one fan tweeted: "Holy Hopping Hallelujah! Jude Law as younger Dumbledore! Be still my heart! GREAT casting!" Another joked: "I'm not sure how I feel about Jude Law playing Dumbledore because I'm fairly certain I don't want to be attracted to Albus but I will."
